URBE University Head Coach Paxton Smith is an elite American distance runner and certified distance running coach who brings top‑tier credentials to the Tigers Cross-Country Team:

Biography
While attending the University of Colorado, Smith was a member of the historic cross country and track program. He contributed significantly to two Pac‑12 championship teams, two NCAA podium teams, and qualified individually for the NCAA Championships in the 10K. He has run 2:17 in the marathon, earning a spot at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, and has competed in multiple U.S. Championships across distances including 15K, 20K, and 25K.
After graduating from CU, Smith moved to Miami, where he became an English teacher and cross country/track coach. In 2025, he transitioned to coaching full‑time. He now works alongside Venezuelan Olympian Luis Orta at My Olympic Coach, training athletes of all ages preparing for events ranging from 5K and 10K to half‑marathons and marathons.
In 2025, Smith also accepted the head coaching position at URBE University to establish the institution’s first cross‑country program. In their inaugural season, the URBE Tigers earned a 2nd‑place finish at the New South Athletic Conference Championship, with two athletes achieving All‑Conference honors.
